Neighbors are deeply concerned after Vineland police fatally shot an unarmed man, and then let a police dog maul his face on Saturday morning about 11:22 am. Even more concerning is that an officer was yelling about a bomb that didn’t exist as he shot the man, reported CBS Philly.
Police did not say how many officers discharged their weapons and did not identify the officers who were involved in the killing.
Video of the deadly encounter was posted to Facebook Live by Ryonna Maven as it happened, and shows police killing Rashaun Washington, 37.
“I live right there, not even three feet away,” said Jose Pagan.
Jose Pagan watched the shooting happen on West Wood Street, next to his home, “I live right there, not even three feet away.”
Pagan said Washington was pacing back and forth outside the house, where he did not live. He also said police were initially patient with the man, before choosing to kill him.
“They telling him to calm down or whatever, he said, ‘No, I’m not leaving here, y’all going to have to kill me,’” said Pagan.
Pagan was surprised that Washington was killed by police because he was unarmed and only had a bottle of water.
Pagan and other neighbors are especially concerned with the insane thing the officer yelled as he killed Washington.
“The cop yelled ‘bomb, a bomb, a bomb’ and he shot him three times,” said Pagan. “Where the bomb comes from? Ain’t no bomb. You think if there would’ve been a bomb this whole block would’ve been evacuated!”

Vineland police were previously caught on video in 2015 allowing a police dog to maul Philip White as he laid on the ground. White died while being transported to the hospital, and police told their victim’s mother that he died of a heart attack. No officers were charged even though there was video of the horrific incident.
