A Wauwatosa, Wisconsin police officer was caught on video repeatedly punching a 17-year-old teen who was already restrained by a mall security officer.
The teen was defenseless, with his arms held down by the security officer, as the first closed-fist blow was delivered to his face.
Once the teen was on the ground, the officer then hits him in the back and again punches him in the face.
Police were responding to a call from mall security requesting police assistance with 5 males inside the mall allegedly acting disorderly and causing a disturbance.
Police have not identified the officer, but they have defended the officer’s brutality by claiming the video only shows part of the story.
“I can assure you that we take all situations seriously when they involve a use of force by our officers,” Wauwatosa Police Chief Barry Weber said in a statement. “We thoroughly review all incidents in which force is used by an officer and will do so in this incident, as well.”
The 17-year-old was arrested for disorderly conduct, battery and resisting an officer.
