A man was arrested for assaulting an Ohio state trooper and biting off part of his ear in the struggle.
The trooper responded to Diagonal Road near Biggs Road just outside of LaGrange, Ohio shortly after 7 a.m. Thursday for a call of a man walking on the road, reported Fox 8.
When he got out of his car, the police officer immediately started yelling at the man, Cornelious L. Carey, Jr., who seemed like he wanted to talk to the officer. Carey responded by yelling back and eventually became more confrontational after the trooper pushed him around, and tried to take his hat.
Carey hit the trooper in the face, and according to Elyria Municipal Court documents, he also bit off part of the trooper’s ear.
Carey, 44, of Elyria, was charged with felonious assault and taken to the Lorain County Jail.
The trooper was taken to a hospital with non life-threatening injuries which will require surgery.
If the trooper would have just talked to Carey instead of immediately treating him like an inferior, yelling at him and manhandling him for no legitimate reason, this incident likely would have played out much differently, and the officer probably would not have ended up in the hospital, missing part of his ear.
