Homeless Men Are Being Murdered In Las Vegas

Surveillance video captured someone getting out of an SUV and murdering James Edgar Lewis as he slept under a Las Vegas freeway.

“It’s basically an execution,” said Lt. Dan McGrath of Las Vegas Metropolitan Police.

Lewis is the most recent of 4 homeless men who have been shot in Vegas in recent days. Two have died, reported CNN.

Three men were shot January 29 within about a 7-hour span. Lewis’ murder came a few days later on Feb. 2, said Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Capt. Robert Plummer.

The suspect is a white Hispanic man, about 6′ who is driving a silver or gray Hyundai SUV.

The first shooting happened about 12:30 a.m. on January 29 when a man was shot, but not killed, outside of a convenience store in Logandale.

The second was at 3:06 a.m., when Brian Clegg was fatally shot while sleeping outside of a business on a busy street.

The third was at 7:13 a.m., where a man woke up with a gunshot wound to the head. Plummer said that man survived.

Officers from the LVMPD Office of Community and Engagement have been informing the city’s homeless population about the shootings, suggesting they go to shelters for safety.

“They’re letting them know that these events have taken place and encouraging them to utilize our homeless shelters,” Meltzer said.

A homeless person was stabbed on January 28 but police said that was unrelated to these incidents because the stabbing involved a physical altercation first.
