Florida Church Asks Forgiveness For Misinterpreted Sexual Sign

A church in Edgewater, Florida asks for forgiveness and has decided to change its sign after their message about forgiveness was understood by many in the community to be a sexual reference.

The sign in front of the Bella Villa Baptist Church read: “Forgiveness is swallowing when you want to spit.”

ABC 10 reported representatives from the church say the sign was “completely innocent” and was “intended as encouragement to forgive.”

A woman in the community took a picture to share on Facebook. Most people found it to be quite hilarious.

The church said it will change the words on the sign, presumably to something that cannot be easily understood as a sexual innuendo.

Officials from the church wrote, “We apologize if anyone was offended.”
