Alabama Church Endorses Roy Moore, Compares Him To Jesus

A church in Opelika, Alabama has been under fire after endorsing the accused sexual predator Roy Moore, and even comparing him to Jesus. “They falsely accused Jesus! Vote Roy Moore,” is what the sign read.

The political message was posted on The Living Way Ministries Church’s outdoor sign. The message allegedly wasn’t posted by the pastor, but was posted by someone else who had keys to unlock the sign and change it, WHNT reported. The pastor requested its removal two days later, after public outrage.

Since the message was posted, the phone has been ringing off the hook from protesters, some with threatening messages. Many are questioning the church’s ability to still receive tax exemptions since they have now endorsed a political candidate.

According to the IRS’s website organizations that are exempt from income tax under section 501(a) of the internal revenue code as organizations described in section 501(c)(3) may not participate in, or intervene in (including the publishing or distributing of statements), any political campaign on behalf of (or in opposition to) any candidate for public office.
