After a teenager was shot at a party, one of their friends hoped that with a little help from 911, they might be able to save their life.
Jaydon Chavez-Silver, 17, was shot almost immediately after arriving at a party. A friend of his called 911, but the operator was not interested in helping, according to local KRQE.
“I’m doing CPR as we speak. I’m keeping him alive,” the female caller said. “Just stay with me, okay, okay. There you go. Good job Jaydon.”
But Matthew Sanchez was working dispatch, and he didn’t believe had time to help.
He asked over and over if the teen was breathing, apparently hoping he would just die so he wouldn’t have to be bothered by the call.
“He’s barely breathing. How many times do I have to f***ing tell you?” the girl responds, outraged at the redundant line of questioning.
Sanchez angrily yells back at her, “OK, you know what ma’am, you could deal with it yourself. I’m not gonna deal with this, okay?”
The caller begs and pleads with him for help, but all she gets is a disconnected line.
Jaydon’s family told local KRQE, through a spokesperson that,“They’re heartbroken. They’re beyond belief about what happened, but at the same time they want to focus on catching the people who did this.”
