More women continue to come forward with rape accusations against a Louisville Metro Police officer.
So far 4 women have spoken up, saying they were raped by LMPD officer Pablo Cano, on many occasions while he was working or in uniform and armed, reported WHAS11.
“It’s another black eye for the police officers,” Metro Councilman and retired officer David James said.
James says there needs to be a third-party investigation.
“With the sexual offenses it might be a good idea to have either the attorney general’s office or the Kentucky State Police handle those investigations,” he said.
We have all seen the results of police departments investigating themselves, it always end with no charges because the officers never do anything wrong in the eyes of their co-workers.
Shannon Fauver. the attorney representing three of the four alleged victims, says that’s a major concern for her clients.
“Who do you call when a police officer assaults you? Do you trust another officer to take care of it?” said Fauver.
Fauver believes there could be more victims out there that have just not spoken up about it.
“If someone has raped someone…they’re going to have done it again,” she said.
Councilman James says he doesn’t know if the council will push for a third-party investigation into this case. He says it’s too early to tell at this point.
If you would like to contact the Metro City Council to help them make the decision to do a 3rd party investigation, you can give them a call at (502) 574-1100.
